Michael J. Fisch, MD, MPH, FACP, FAAHPM, FASCO
Medical Director, Medical Oncology
Dr. Fisch, MD, MPH, FACP, FAAHPM, FASCO, serves as Medical Director of Medical Oncology for AIM Specialty Health® (AIM). In his role, he works closely with the executive leadership team to provide clinical expertise for the expansion of our Oncology Solution.
Prior to AIM, Dr. Fisch served as faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, initially in the Department of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation. He then led the MD Anderson Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) Research Base. He subsequently served for five years as the founding chair of the Department of General Oncology. In his role, Dr. Fisch led a group of clinical faculty who managed a broad mix of cancer patients in a variety of community and academic settings and those involved in clinical and basic research.
Dr. Fisch served as Principal Investigator of the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded MD Anderson Cancer Center Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) Research Base. From 2007–2014, he served as co-chair of the NCI Symptom Management and Quality of Life Committee. Additionally, he served as chair of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ECOG-ACRIN) Symptom Science and Treatment Toxicity Committee and the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Social Media Working Group, and chair for the first American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Palliative Care in Oncology Symposium. He currently holds the role of co-chair of the SWOG Symptom Control and Quality of Life Committee. Recently, Dr. Fisch was invited to serve on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC). MEDCAC reviews and evaluates the benefits, harms, and appropriateness of medical items and services that are covered under Medicare.
He completed his undergraduate, medical school, and internal medicine training at the University of Virginia and hematology/oncology fellowship training from Indiana University. He received his master's in Public Health Training. He is board certified in medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine.
