Solution Manager, Genetic Testing
Julie Hedrick Degner is the Solution Manager for the Genetic Testing Solution at AIM Specialty Health® (AIM). In this role, Julie manages the sales and marketing content for the solution as well as the provider education and engagement strategy. She also supports solution implementations and contributes to the development of the solution’s reporting.
Before joining AIM, Julie worked for GeneDx, a genetic testing and diagnosis company, where she served initially as a neurology product specialist and later as a genomics consultant. As a neurology product specialist, Julie managed provider and genetic counselor education, which focused on the genetics of neurological conditions and the benefits of testing; she was also responsible for product promotion in Illinois. As a genomics consultant, Julie delivered academic lectures on genetics and genetic testing to students, providers, and hospital administrators; she also acted as a subject matter expert for the organization, contributing clinical content on topics like testing technology, neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, oncology, and whole exome sequencing. Prior to GeneDx, Julie spent 15 years in research and clinical genetics, working at the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Science System, the Reproductive Genetics Center, P.C., and the University of Chicago Hospitals (now known as the University of Chicago Medical Center). During this time, she provided prenatal and pediatric counseling and coordinated research and clinical testing.
Julie earned a Bachelor of Science in zoology and a Master of Science in medical genetics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling, she is a licensed genetic counselor in the state of Illinois.
