National Medical Director, Musculoskeletal
Dr. Valdesuso serves as the National Medical Director of the Musculoskeletal Solution for AIM Specialty Health® (AIM). In his role, he is responsible for defining the clinical strategy of the solution.
A physician executive with more than 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Valdesuso has advanced expertise in utilization management, particularly in the areas of spinal and orthopedic surgery, interventional pain management, specialized therapies, and chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapies.
Prior to joining AIM, he ran a private orthopedic surgery practice for more than 20 years. There, he earned Aetna’s Aexcel designation for clinical performance and efficiency. Later, Dr. Valdesuso transitioned to a new setting at eviCore healthcare (formerly CareCore National), where he advanced from the musculoskeletal division’s Medical Director to its Associate Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Valdesuso has an extensive and varied educational background. He earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and he completed his internship in general surgery and residency in orthopedic surgery at New York University/Bellevue Hospital. A former Tufts University hand-surgery fellow, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and possesses a certificate of added qualifications in hand surgery.
Dr. Valdesuso broadened his expertise recently by earning a Master of Arts in visual language and interactive media from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Business Administration with a marketing and finance concentration from the University of South Florida—St. Petersburg.
