National Medical Director, Radiation Oncology
Dr. Zimmerman serves as National Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at AIM Specialty Health® (AIM). In his role, he provides clinical leadership and guides the development of AIM Guidelines to ensure consistent use of appropriate radiation within our Oncology Solution.
Prior to joining AIM, Dr. Zimmerman served as assistant professor of radiation oncology at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American College of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Zimmerman has extensive experience with high dose rate (HDR) implants and brachytherapy.
Dr. Zimmerman has completed extensive research in cancer treatment, and was the recipient of an American Cancer Society Clinical Oncology Fellowship and a Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award. He has authored multiple publications on radiation oncology and has often been invited to present on this topic.
He earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and completed his doctorate at UCLA School of Medicine. He is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
